The Council for Development and Reconstruction and the Municipality of Ghubairi celebrated the launching of the project of rehabilitation the infrastructure in the areas of Sabra and Ghubairi, funded by the German government, in the Ghubairi municipality building and in the presence of the Ambassador of Germany to Lebanon Mrs. Brigitta Maria Zevkir - Eiberl, Dr. Ismail Mecca representing the President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction Eng. Nabil El-Jisr, the Vice Director of UNRWA in Lebanon Mr. Roger Davis, the Head of the municipalities union of the southern suburbs and the Mayor of Ghobeiri municipality Mr. Mohammad Said Al-Khansa, Mayor of Haret Hreik lawyer Samir Dakkash and the Mayor of Burj El-Barajneh Eng. Mohammad Daoud Al-Harakeh. Four speeches were exchanged at the ceremony including one by Dr. Mecca representing the Council.
The project includes the implementation of the assembly line of wastewater with a diameter of 900 mm and a length of 900 m which contains about 72,000 m3 per day from the areas of Sabra and Ghubairi.
There is a second line with a diameter of 1200 mm and a length of 900 m length specified for storm water drainage, with a capacity of about 154,000 m3 per day.
The work on this project lasted 18 months and was put in service on 24 August 2009.
The cost of this project is 1.7 million Euros and it is funded by the German grant for the years 2006 - 2007 through the German Development Bank which oversaw its implementation.
