SAOUFAR-MDEIREJ HIGHWAY

REINSTATMENT WORKS FOR THE HIGHWAY AND THE GRAND HOTEL VIADUCT "damaged by July 2006 war"

The Government of Lebanon has received a donation from the Italian Government to repair the damage occurred by the Israel attack and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the contract for the SAOUFAR-MDEIREJ HIGHWAY - REINSTATMENT WORKS FOR THE HIGHWAY AND THE GRAND HOTEL VIADUCT "DAMAGED BY JULY 2006 WAR"

The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) acting as executing agency for and on behalf of the Government of Lebanon, and as Employer under the Contract invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the SAOUFAR-MDEIREJ HIGHWAY - REINSTATMENT WORKS FOR THE HIGHWAY AND THE GRAND HOTEL VIADUCT "damaged by July 2006 war", the project consist of reconstruction of the damaged span and structure elements of Grand Hotel Viaduct and milling and resurfacing of Saoufar MDEIREJ HIGHWAY.

Eligible bidders are Italian Contractors bidding jointly or separately and meeting the requirements stipulated in "Contract Award Procedures –Contracts for Works, Supplies and Services financed through soft loans provided by DGCS – January 2004”. Italian contractors must meet additional qualifications as stipulated in the bidding data sheet. Lebanese contractors can not participate as partners in a Joint Venture.

A complete set of Bidding Documents in English (and additional copies) may be purchased at Council for Development and Reconstruction - Tallet El Serail - Beirut, Lebanon, for a non-refundable fee of Two Thousand US Dollars (2000 US$), for each set. The method of payment will be a bank certified cheque in favour of the Council for Development and Reconstruction. Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same address.

Bids shall be valid for a period of One Hundred and Twenty (120) days after Bid opening and must be accompanied by a bid security of 200.000 € (Two Hundred Thousands EUROS) and shall be delivered to Council for Development and Reconstruction - Tallet El Serail, Beirut, Lebanon on or before Thursday, August 14th 2008, 12:00 o’clock noon (Beirut local time), at which time they will be opened in the presence of the bidders who wish to attend.
