LEBANON The Ministry of Culture, Directorate General of Antiquities (DGA) has a budget towards the cost of archaeological and conservation projects, and intends to apply the proceeds of this budget towards payments for goods, works, and related consulting services to be procured under these projects. The Council for Development and Reconstruction, the project’s executing agency, intends to apply part of the proceeds of this budget towards payments for Consultancy Services for the Design and Supervision of Deir el-Qalaa Archaeological Project, and for Beit ed-Dine Historical Palace Conservation Project. The projects consist of some archaeological works with emphasis on presentation to visitors, landscaping, visitors’ centers, conservation & consolidation historical monuments and archaeological structures. The objective of this assignment is the provision of design and supervision services to fulfill the role of: A- Archaeological Consultant for Deir el-Qalaa Archaeological Project with the purpose of: 1. Review the existing Tender Document as prepared by DGA and update cost estimate. 2. Format the different documents to the standard of CDR. 3. Supervise the needed consolidation and backfilling works. 4. Document and prepare explanatory material for the presentation of the sites. 5. Supervise the needed structural strengthening and surface conservation works. 6. Supervise the implementation of the presentation and landscaping projects for visitors. 7. Provide various experts and prepare Operation & Maintenance Manuals. B- Archaeological and Architectural Conservation Consultant for Beit ed-Dine Historical Palace Conservation Project with the purpose of: 1. Undertake an architectural and archaeological survey of the Palace. 2. Make an assessment on the current status of the different structures. 3. Study, document and prepare explanatory material for the presentation of the palace. 4. Prepare detailed design for the needed structural and surface conservation works. 5. Prepare detailed design for the implementation of the presentation and the landscaping projects for visitors. 6. Prepare detailed design for the execution of a new set-up of the existing museum. 7. Prepare and format the tender documents and drawings documents to the standard of CDR. 8. Supervise the implementation of the works described above. 9. Provide various experts and prepare Operation & Maintenance Manuals. The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services for either or both of the above two projects. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services. To enable CDR to select two short lists for the above described consultancy contract (one short list for each contract), interested consultants are requested to provide the information described below: - Names and experience of Professional key staff divided as follows:• Archaeology specialists with relevant CVs• Conservation specialists with relevant CVs• Landscaping specialists with relevant CVs• Architecture specialists with relevant CVs- List of relevant completed projects over the past 10 years, or on-going projects, indicating the percentage of participation of the consultant in theventure divided as follows: • Archaeology• Conservation• Landscaping• Architecture• Presentation- Annual turn over of the firm for the last 5 years for similar works and for the firm’s activities as a whole.- Structure of the firm and its subsidiaries.Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications. In this case, the name or names of associated companies should be provided, and the Partner in Charge of the association be specified. Consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below from 8:00 to 13:00 Beirut local time.
